Better Education for Entrepreneurs Looking to ScaleUp
ScaleUpU is an accredited 36-month executive program similar to the “Birthing of Giants” (BOG) program that Verne Harnish, founder of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) and author of Scaling Up, launched over 25 years ago. Today it is titled the “Entrepreneurial Masters Program” (EMP) and is still held on the campus of MIT.
Building on the success of that program, which has educated over 1,500 growth-minded entrepreneurs, and the success of Gazelles, a global executive education and coaching firm which has helped an additional 40,000 firms scaleup (several to a $1 billion and beyond) using tools and techniques developed for the EMP, ScaleUpU combines the best practices from these programs into one integrated solution.
ScaleUpU Initiative: The ScaleUpU Initiative is highly selective in identifying a limited number of high potential “gazelles” and focusing the city’s resources and efforts to help them significantly scaleup their businesses. The initiative will provide outstanding educational and coaching resources with the goal of generating significant wealth for the companies and the local community. In the US, the initial plan is to launch ScaleUpU pilot programs in four cities: Kansas City, Raleigh, Miami and Philadelphia.
This initiative will select up to 15 high potential scaleup companies per year to participate in a proven 3 year education, coaching, and technology-supported process to address key aspects of scaling a business (See Components of ScaleUpU).
Schedule: ScaleUpU is hosting a Scale Up Business Growth Workshop on April 20, 2017 at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville. This workshop is designed for the business owner/CEO and their leadership team and will provide an overview of material covered in the full program. Participation in the April workshop is open to all companies and individuals.

ScaleUpU is launching in May 1-4, 2017 in Raleigh with the first three‐day learning session. The ScaleUpU program will begin with a CEO dinner led by Verne Harnish followed by a 3 day live event conference for CEOs and their teams. Quarterly coaching would begin in Q2 2017 and continue for each quarter of the program. Subsequent on-campus sessions would occur in May 2018 and 2019.
